Description
The flag of Gabon was adopted in 1960, the year they gained independence from France. Gabon chose a tricolour rotated in the opposite direction as France and used their own colours of green, yellow and blue. The green colour represents the natural resources of Gabon. Meanwhile the yellow colour alludes to the Equator the country sits on and also symbolizes the sun. And finally the blue represents the sea.
The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
