The Austrian M1959 net was intended for use on the M1 Stahlhelm (steel helmet), though the cover will fit on any steel helmet similar to the iconic US M1 helmet shape. Primarily, helmet nets are used to cover up that shiny steel target on your head by allowing foliage to be attached to the outside.
It was not unusual to find Austrian nets over top of US woodland camouflage helmet covers for effective concealment. The net secures with an elasticated band around the rim allowing it to fit over pretty much any steel pot. An iconic, vintage military look for reenactments or as a prop for photo and video shoots.
