Description
These shoes are what the US Army issued to its soldiers from 1941. Officially called the Type II, this version features a rubber heel & half sole - the previous Type I version had a leather sole so these were a vast improvement (rubber was cut down on due to wartime shortage). Having said that, the service shoe is pretty low cut and 'leggings' had to be worn in order to keep mud, dirt etc out.
A quality reproduction with solid stitching throughout - cowhide leather upper & heel of insole, with a solid tongue that runs midway up the boot. Needless to say they will need some wearing in and aren't the comfiest - make sure to wear some thick socks! (would recommend adding modern insoles for added comfort). The outsole is made in two rubber pieces and has a combination of nails & stitching going through the insoles.
Whether it be for reenactments, airsoft, period film productions or just pounding some pavement, channel those WW2 vibes with a pair of these shoes!
