Description
The Maldives adopted their current flag in 1965 upon achieving independence from the United Kingdom. The green rectangle represents peace and prosperity. The white crescent represents the Islamic faith of the nation. And the red surrounding all of these represents the nations willingness to sacrifice their blood in defense of their country.
The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
