Description
Kuwait adopted their current flag in 1961. Prior to this, Kuwait's flag was red and white like many other Persian Gulf states at the time. The flag used to be the same as Turkey's flag leading up to 1914 - this lead to friendly fire with British forces so the flag changed very quickly. The current flag is also similar to other nearby neighbours but with one key difference - the black area which is often a pointed chevron is flat on the Kuwaiti flag.
The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
